Regardless of my actual feelings, I try to blend in with the crowd. But there are some things that are better kept to one's self. The "furry" sub-culture is one such thing in my opinion, which unless I'm mistaken, is something I'm still entitled to have. Do I constantly flaunt my hetero-sexuality in your face? No, I don't. Sooo agreed. I don't need to know you are gay or a catboy every time I see one of your posts. I could use the ignore button but that would cause discussion to become disjointed as the many posts by open furries go missing. Yes, the 'sexy' anime signatures are inappropriate too. For users like 30084pm you can just add the images to Adblock. But for A Gay Little Catboy, there's no way to not be reminded that he is both gay and a cat boy.
Not against any rules mind you, just terrible and inappropriate.

This isn't as big a problem within this community as the shift away from technical focus. Very few people here are into reverse engineering and the technical members have been leaving for years. Sure you can blame the easy use and prevalence of DS flash carts but more members doesn't always have to mean dumbest members. I've seen sites with a simple registration test that asks very simple questions related to the site. It's not much but weeds out the people who can't even google.

I get what you mean. It's like if AGCB took every chance he got to mention his intimacies with his lover, or if Rydian constantly posted furry pron or something of the like. BUT THEY DON'T. They have respect for us, and w respect them, they are OPEN about things but are NOT flaunting it; they don't go around being extra douchey or offensive about it...

The people that do should probably rethink their views on things. By that I mean, they should learn what's decent in a public setting, especially A TEEN FRIENDLY VIDEO GAME FORUM for that matter.

Well for one, Rydian (or anybody for that matter) isn't allowed to post furry pron, or any kind of pron for that matter, so that doesn't count. But he does post his furry pictures of that fox...thing where everybody can see along with AGCB (and many others, just using AGCB as an example) and his usual furry avatars/sigs. And AGCB posts a lot so it's all you ever see. They have the right though to upload their own avatars/sigs so not much you can do about it. But as TDWP_FTW said, the custom member titles being filled with furryness just adds to the annoyance alongside the avatars because they are right next to each other.

) respect points now because he just spoke the truth for thousands of tempers who feel the same way, and he simplified it into 1 thread. I'm not saying all the furry members should leave and go join their own furry boards, but to just stop abusing what e-persona you are on a non-furry forum board. You only have to leave a furry avatar/sig/member title up for a week to let people know what you are, not a couple of months or even a few years. That is just overdoing it.

I hope I have not offended Rydian/AGCB/any other furry in any way, it's just my thoughts on the whole situation.

This blog was inspired by some of the stuff I've read in the "SolatoRobo: Red the Hunter" release thread, but that thread was just "the straw that broke the camel's back", as far as I'm concerned.


I'm sorry if I offend any of you guys, I really am. This little rant is not targeted at any specific person, even if it might seem like it. In fact, very few are actually the cause of this rant, but I can't take this crap anymore because they are disrupting the whole community and I really used to love GBAtemp. But now, not so much.....

For starters, Tom & Jerry aren't "furries", they are just cartoon animal characters, just like Bugs Bunny and such. Know the freaking difference!

A "furry" by common definition is a human who likes to dress up as an animal and become aroused while in that guise, or likes to look at....I don't know.....furry-based pron, or some shit like that. To a hardcore "furry", it's an erotic thing. But not always......it's hard to define because different levels of people who consider themselves "furries" all have a different opinions of what the term "furry" means. Just go to http://www.urbandictionary.com/ and look up "furry" for a whole range of definitions. In my opinion, it is a sub-culture of sick and twisted people who need to shut the hell up about their aberrant behavior in mixed company. Normally, I wouldn't actively attack people for their personal preferences, that's their business. It's just that I would rather not hear about it or have it thrown in my face all the damn time here on a video game forum. That's all I'm saying.

Personally, I'll just consider a game like "SolatoRobo: Red the Hunter" another one of those Nintendo games that likes to have cutesy talking animals in it, NOT some aberrant sub-culture-based "furry" thing. To be honest, that kind of talk makes me like the game even less than I already do because of the cutesy talking animals without being twisted into what you guys call "furries".

You know, I try to be tolerant, I really do, but some of you people are just pushing things too far. GBAtemp used to be a really great place to hang-out and talk about games, but over the last few years this place has become flooded with people who insist on making normal people uncomfortable with their aberrant, and frankly, somewhat disgusting views. See, this is what I don't want to happen. Homosexual rights, I have no reason to oppose, as long as they don't force things down people's throats. But I don't and refuse to believe that being a furry is the same kind of thing at all. If you're gay you can't help that, but being a furry is completely different, and even if it is a "lifestyle", it's not one that deserves special rights.

You say not to pay attention to the avatars/sigs, yet they are the thing people look at most when reading a thread. It's their colors and design that stand out the most. How can you say to "not pay attention"?
