Can anyone do a decent updater, one that actually works for all not just softmod setups ?

requirements...

wii with latest update from nintendo 4.1
hbc to run the app

The app should only patch/voodoo/overinstall the trucha bug to where it's needed, i'm not sure not every ios/channel/etc needs it.... this is where the experts need to help us thickos, what actually needs the trucha bug ? is there an easy way to introduce it and again/repeat what actually needs the bug ?

even if it's just a step by step list of what actually needs doing for a 4.1 system with enabled trucha bug, it would be very helpful

Thought updating through the Settings menu would still allow me to use Trucha Signed discs, am now on 4.1E and can't run them. Can I just use waninkoko's 4.1 updater to update over the top of the official 4.1 update and Trucha Signed discs will then work..? Thanks in advance for any help!

Now we need some Preloader hacks and .mym themes for 4.1!

you can use custom themes
you just need to use the new system menu 0000007b.app to create the theme. i tested it with the 4.0 unbrella theme and have no problem with the settings screen

IOS60 for 4.0 and 4.1, yes. You may want to trucha patch it first though, but you don't have to.

And I would install IOS60 first, since the system menu depends on that. I'm not sure if the order matters that much though.

with bannerbomb still working, it's perfectly safe to update via Nintendo's servers, then run yourself through the 4.0 guide and/or softmii 3.0 stuff. If you follow those guides after updating, then you can be sure that you have everything set up the way you need it. The new hacks.ini for preloader for 4.1U and 4.1E are both on the wiki already. Use those for your "start patch"

I can testify that the new hacks seem to work, except for the bottom 3 (error screens on purpose to keep the kids from playing? how pathetic) I won't even bother trying those to see if they do work or not.

I'm having problems installing this since I don't have a wifi connection, I do have my Wii online but via USB/ADSL cable, but unfortunately this connection is not supported in Waninkoko's 4.1 updater.

Currently I'm on 4.0 on a PAL Wii (updated using wanin's downgrader-upgrader) but I'd really like to go to 4.1 to be able to run Sports Resort form HD.

What would be the best way to update offline?

-1036 means that the required IOS is not installed, it has nothing to do with space where do those wrong information always come from ?

So:
QUOTE[14:16:45] [Dungeon_] Attila|da: with waninkoko's upgrader
[14:16:59] [Attila|da] why did it failed?
[14:17:06] [Dungeon_] errorcode -1036
[14:17:14] [Dungeon_] when I upgraded from 3.3e to 4.1e
[14:17:17] [Dungeon_] on the system menu part
[14:17:32] [Dungeon_] errorcode 1036 is not listed on internet as known as far as I can see
[14:17:52] [Attila|da] did you ran it twice?
[14:18:06] [Dungeon_] yes
[14:18:20] [Dungeon_] then I noticed there was not enough free space maybe
[14:18:22] [Dungeon_] 169 blocks
[14:18:27] [Dungeon_] 150-250 needed
[14:18:29] [Dungeon_] so I freed some up
[14:18:38] [Dungeon_] but still the same error
[...]
[14:53:42] [Dungeon_] now I have much more [blocks]
[14:53:46] [Dungeon_] it's all solved in the meantime
[14:53:49] [Dungeon_] freed some space

Only Xbox I don't have is the OG, and One X model specifically, I regret giving my chipped OG model to one of my kids years ago, after later hearing he sold it to pawn shop, damn kids!

I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

@Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    dualbooth
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
