I've only played a few of them, none of them, to me, stand out from the others. Each one is fun and sometimes frustrating when you get to the parts that need careful timing.

The one I've been playing the most of--since I own it--is probably New Super Mario Bros.

Oh, one thing I can say, I've always enjoyed Mario more on handheld than on console.

hmm...
i had a really good time beating all those mario games with my friends, but i must say that smb3 is the best. i played the remake on the snes more than the original nes one, so i actually have to say smb allstars is the best mario cartridge of all time.
super mario world was awesome too, of course.
but super mario land and 6 golden coins were the games i actually played the most, because I got my first gameboy when i was...3? xD thats how long i've been playing mario land... 16 years xD

Super Mario Land. The one that was Super Mario Advance 2 for the GBA, it was my first GBA game and I loved it. Plus it has Yoshi, can't get better than that.

Whoops, this is Super Mario World, not Land. But Land was awesome because it was the first handheld Mario game.

Super Mario All-stars FTW!
It has all the Mario SS except for world and New super mario bros.
Super mario allstars is a group of games, and it had world.
ferrariman: All-stars didn't have the GB ones.
Eternal Myst/ferrariman: Originally it did not have World, but a later release added World to it.

That's actually Super Mario World, Land is the one for the original GB, World the one with Yoshi...

super mario land, for the OG gameboy, was my first mario game, and probably my most played when I was younger, but I think World for Snes is my favorite. It was around when I really started getting into gaming, and the Snes was MY console when I was growing up. I played through most of smb3 a few years ago, and probably would have loved it when it came out if I had had the chance to play it when I was younger (my brother's friend 'borrowed' our copy before I even got a chance to even start the game, and never gave it back. Hooray for emulators!)

World for me followed closely by SMB3.

World just felt like it flowed through levels a bit smoother, but both a couple of the best games of all time

Mario 3 was great. SO FUCKING HARD/AWESOME.

The 6 golden coins was my first GBC game..... It was an awesome game. A bit on the short side, but I thought it was a great game.

Mmm.....not really a Mario fan myself. I'm more of a Metroid or Punch-Out type of Ninty fan. And it kind of burns my ass that they've never made either of those games for the DS yet. That 3D Metroid was an abomination, IMO......not a REAL Metroid game.
