Hey there.

I'm thinking I may have an IOS problem with the current Wii I am modding.

After following the official hack wii guide I first noticed all channel forwarders would crash the system but would load normally out of homebrew channel. As well, I found that some official retail disc games bring up a blue screen #002 error code. After some Googling I realized that I probably had an issue with my IOS but attempted to rehack from scratch a couple times just to be sure, with no success.

As well, I did not create an original NAND backup before starting ... my bad ...

I preformed a System Check and attached below.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

This is the recommended Wii guide.
You are on SystemMenu 4.3 but iam missing the IOS58 and 80 thats normaly installed by this update. I recommend to force first a update to 4.3

IOS 58 is used by homebrew channel, other homebrew and USB Loaders. There exist also a IOS 58 installer, but it will install the previous last version.

And IOS 80 is neccesarry for the Systemmenu 4.3.
//EDITED: A patched ios 80 is neccesary to run fakesigned custom channels on Wii, that have been moved to SDCard.
A patched ios80 is required assuming u are on 4.3. If you are on 4.2 u need a patched ios70, 4.1 a patched ios60. So if you aren't on 4.3 you might still be missing a patched system menu ios

Cios 249/250/251, their base and dx2 patch is correct. But i wonder why is there still a cIOS 252(base60) and cIOS253(base70) which is unnessary/outdated.

Or put your syscheck into Modmii it will tell you what to do, also to install the patched IOS 80.

Thank you! That fixed it.

I initially tried to force a system update, which failed. I then installed IOS58, formatted, updated (worked this time) and rehacked using the guide. All channel forwarders work as well as retail discs.

I've posted a renewed System Check below

FYI, I see that IOS80 is still not patched but can confirm that my custom channels are working.

So, am I right in saying that the problem was a missing IOS58? How does that happen? A bad update to 4.3?

Thanks again. Much appreciated!

But at least the PS3 was only 500 for the cheapest one at launch

They still serve a purpose for people that don't want to dive deep into it and just buy something that works

I think the PS3 was the last console that was custom and felt at least slightly home console to me, although the constant updates pissed me off to no end.... "I got a day off from work let's play some games..." Well maybe after the hour long firmware update.... Shit the game needs an hour long update too??
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Microsofts giving us options the other two should've followed with tbh not everyone is going to give a damn about 4k 120fps
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah I think they should have focused on 1440P and let the TVs handle upscale duty
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
My 4K TV admittedly is a higher end one turns 1080P into 4K nicely
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Og switch should've released with 1440p and then release with a cheaper 720p panel at the end
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Switch Ghetto Edition lol
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Screw a lite they missed an opportunity to sell the screen
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all these retro consoles and Pi owe a large part of their market to home consoles being so expensive and the collectors driving up old consoles to the sky.

switch 2 will only have 3 games and will be the second coming of the virtual boy

Nah if you're thinking switch 2 vr headset they have enough of a blueprint for specs to be decent Mario in full room scale would be cool some vr headsets already did demo of smb3 with a apple vr iirc
