2010 is going to be interesting...

This is it, the year I finally get the hell outta the house. Something I've been wanting to do every since I fought my way out of my mother's womb. I'm going to finish up high school, turn 17 and enlist in the Air Force. New things will be experienced, will go places I haven't been and learn to do a job that pays 120k a year. The goal is to be a Air Traffic Controller: said to be one of the most stressful jobs in the world. But with the amount they pay, I think I can dig it.

My daily life will change dramatically. There will be no more refreshing news sites and forums all day. No more doing things at my own relaxed slow ass pace. No more watching endless amounts of downloaded shows hours on end, for the first year of the military anyway.

I have a set of goals once I have left the house. There isn't a if in meeting these goals, only a when. My first one is a goal of self discovery. That is, to know myself. To know: my weaknesses, what I like, what I dislike, what I love, what I loathe, what I can and cannot tolerate, what I enjoy, etc. This isn't something that happens in a day, a week or a year. It's something that takes a lifetime. And while I'm working toward that goal, I'll simultaneously work toward self improvement.

The next goal I have is to get a group of close friends. This too could take a long time. And while I have lots of good acquaintances (mostly on GBAtemp), I don't really have any close friends. Somehow I get the feeling that my best friends will be GBAtemp members though

The next step I take in life will be huge. I'm most definitely looking forward to it

Oh, and a bit about Wifi Night. I'm working on a project that should really give it a huge boost. Hopefully I'll finish it before I leave.

ill be stinging off my parents for just that little while longer
way to make me feel like a bum, asshole

Are you an Enlisted man or are you going OCS? If you are OCS and going to the Air Force Academy, they have an exchange program to our school every year. I see USAFA exchange students here at our school every year, with their non-digital camo, lol.

I was thinking of going through the academy, but I really don't have the drive for that kinda thing.

Yep, it is really hard, if anything, a normal College is much easier on the soul. However, military school does have its fun times.

Argh, you and your 20/20 vision. :(
Good luck, I have a friend (more of my brother's friend) who just graduated and went into the Airforce.

You'll be making more like 60k when you start.

You sound a lot like me job wise. But I'm planing on becoming a Air Combat Systems Officer or a Aerospace Engineering Officer. Let me know how it goes. :P

Basic training isn't going to be that bad for me since it's like 2 hours away from where I live. Be sure to get really fit before you go, don't want to look bad.

He's not going to be a pilot. I've always wanted to become a pilot since my quick decision making and reflexes have always been really good (and my grades are good, 95%+), but since my vision is bad I haven't even looked in to it at all.
