Hi, so I use a classic controller hooked up to my wii remote for most games. I was wondering if there was a way to emulate a classic controller hooked up to a wii remote as an emulated GamePad. because many games like Captain Toad and Mario & Sonic at the Rio Games require a GamePad no matter what, even though there’s nothing different from the gamepad and the classic controller and i’d prefer to use the classic controller. I’ve tried to use HID to VPad to make the Wii U believe my classic controller is a gamepad but it doesn’t work. What can I do?

I don't think you can use the classic controller, but Hidtovpad allows you to use a lot of different controls to emulate the gamepad.

I have a Mayflash Magic NS and it allows me to use Dualshock 3 wireless as gamepad with Hidtovpad.

Any Wii controller is very restrictive as far as using it for anything other than vWii.

You could try the Hidtest that is included with Hidtovpad and see if you can get input then make your own config but no guarantee it will work.

These are the intended controller inis that can work https://github.com/Maschell/controller_patcher_configs

Since a Wiimote is not a Hid device it most likely would not work and it was not the intention by the creator to make Wiimotes or classic controllers work.

There is a thing called Hid Wiimote on Windows

HID Wiimote
– A Windows Device Driver for the Nintendo Wii Remote (Bachelor Thesis) This driver, called HID Wiimote, was developed and elementary implemented as my bachelor thesis in a 6-month period.

So it may be possible to use it using the hidtovpad network client while having it hooked to your PC. I obviously haven't tried it to know if it would work and you would have to make your own config.

Mayflash did make several Classic Controller to USB adapters which you might be able to use with HID to VPAD. They made three different models:

PC045

PC047

PC052

I've got a PC045, and I do not recommend it for this purpose. The Classic Controller's input values are sort of weird, with analog stick values positioned at locations that aren't byte boundaries, and the PC045 passes them directly through. HID to VPAD expects each input to have its own byte, so while it works fine on anything that has proper USB HID drivers, the analog sticks can't be configured for HID to VPAD. You can still use Classic Controllers as digital-only pads (no analog sticks) this way, but it's not really worth it unless you only want to play classic games. On that stubject, PC045 is completely incompatible with nonstandard Classic Controllers like the NES and SNES Classic Mini pads, it only works with "normal" Classic Controllers like the original, the Pro, and the Hori Battle Pad (GameCube-style controller).

PC047 seems to be essentially a wireless version of PC045. You plug a Classic Controller into it, and a USB wireless receiver into the PC (or Wii U, in this case). I have zero experience with these ones, so I really don't know if it would work well with HID to VPAD.

PC052 is an updated version of the adapter. I've never used that one either, so once again I can't tell you if it works with HID to VPAD. According to some Google research, it does have improved compatibility, working with the NES and SNES Classic Mini controllers, at least. I think this one is probably your best hope as far as using Classic Controllers as Wii U GamePads, but I'm basing that only on the fact that it's upgraded over the PC045.

Captain Toad has several levels that can only be completed by using the touch screen. There are ones you slide parts of the level about like a jigsaw there are other levels you use the touchscreen to rotate valves or pull levers ect.

they changed those to motion controls or a pointer on the screen with the switch version of captain toad, so yeah, impossible to play the game in some (not a lot) of levels.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I take that back. it is in a lot of levels. I forgot about that valve wheel in a lot of stages, and just plain touching things to make them ascend/descend.

Yep I was just gonna say there is a hell of a lot of levels that require the touch screen. In episode one 11 out of the 18 requires touch. I can't remember how many in episodes 2 and 3 and the bonus episode require touch but its round about the same amount as episode one.

some of those stages with the touch controls are really fun. they're a bit awkward on the switch especially if using the pro controller. pointing and rotating the controller is one of the most awkward things I've ever seen. haha

I would imagine so. After finishing the WiiU and 3ds version I cant be bothered to do it all again on the Switch.

the dlc stages are quite good especially the ones inspired by odyssey. I still haven't gotten all the diamonds in those stages. I'm up to the stage before the last bonus one in the final book. I think the dlc is considered the fourth book.

I was wondering if there was anyway to bypass plugging into a wiimote entirely. Plug a CC Pro straight into an adapter of some sort and play Wii games on vWii usbloaderGX
