I just got a phat NDS in the mail and one of the first thing I've tried was booting up my Acekard, however, it's not being read.
this also happened to my DSi but after installing flashcart twilight menu it just worked for some reason?
It worked with my silver phat NDS and N3DS XL the get go, and still works with those along with the DSi. i tried a different cartridge
(Pokemon Black 2) to see if it would work and it did, along with my sisters copy of Pokemon Platinum.

Other things I've tried:
- The common paper method
- Cleaning the pins (SD card & the Acekard itself)
- the twilight menu method (resulted in the cart still not being read)
- Using a smaller and correctly formatted SD card (16 gb Sandisk Ultra as well as a 4gb Toshiba)
Any assistance is appreciated at this point, I might have to use a different DS until further notice

Contact issue is usually the cause, you might need multiple layers of paper, IIRC it took around 3-4 layers of thin paper on my brother's AK2i to get it working on his DS without random crashes. Wedged underneath the row of pins.

should i take it apart (if there's a safe way to do so?) i cut like 3 pieces of paper and got it underneath and it still didn't work unfortunately and this is surprising that it's even doing this as it still works with my 3 other consoles and this one in particular can read other games, so maybe there's something I'm missing?

edit: i noticed that it takes a bit more force to put the Acekard in the cartridge slot of the pink phat ds (but little to none with Pokemon Black 2) but not any other model including my silver phat DS. i MIGHT have to take it apart, i dunno though i've never done something like this before, I've contacted the seller and hoping for a response back soon.

Sorry but what am i looking at here? from the looks of it, it looks like paper sticking out from the Slot 1 where the cartridge sticker faces if so i just tried that with no dice, but i'm like 90% sure there's something i'm missing here

You need to put enough paper for the flashcard to make contact with the pins of the DS. I just showed an example so you get an idea.

That's what we call the "paper trick". you might need to try and error until it works. The truth is DS flashcards are "cheap" stuff. You might need to put more paper until it works.

A paper shim underneath the PCB is more effective.

A bit of an update: the seller contacted me about 2 hours ago they recommended i clean the pins on the AK2i
with "High Concentration Isopropyl Alcohol" and that they were certain they cleaned the console before shipping,
and if by chance the pins within the console got dirty i could cover a games pins in alcohol then "punch" the cartridge in
and out slot 1, and by their words "High Concentration Isopropyl Alcohol is super safe with electronics."

That being said i should probably specify what i initially cleaned it with as i shouldn't have said i cleaned it when it wasn't even the right thing, anyway i used a baby wipe and gently wiped the pins as damp/wet/liquids making contact with electronics typically scare me lmao (my mom visits my apartment later while also bringing the alcohol so i can actually try it then rather than some Mankey brained subsitute)

TLDR: My bad :P

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.

OK no problem the issue is he would download DBZ movies and they where amazing usually like 2-8KB in size lol can't remember how many times I had to format and reinstall windows over his stupidity. I even explained to him about file sizes multiple times...

    @Psionic Roshambo, Yeah, BonziBuddy was both spyware and ad-ware. It collected children's personal information without consent as well as display fake Windows popups.
