its crazy we have a tool to simple Choose a MODE and inject a DOL or ROM into a WAD channel....YET no SIMPLE GUI to do this SAME THING with a picture format of some kind? could someone addapt a feature to INJECT a picture into a banner using the source code of Injectawad?

what can the problem be if you made a banner which shows up as total white in the wii menu but shows the banner if you open it? The banner sizes are correct and made like i do other channels... A bit strange i think... any ideas? packed and unpacked with Howard's tools...

How to make sound.bin

What you need:

-audacity (download)
-IMD5 Signer (download)

1. Setup audacity

Go to the Preferences(ctrl+p) and check if WAV 16bit PCM is set.

2. Speaking about the Sound and problems

Remember that the Wii Banner can use only uncompressed wave sound.
This is verry limiting, so think what kind of music you want to use and keep it as short as possible.
What we can do to keep file size short? Well thats simple, just use Mono, insteed of Stereo.
Your Sound.bin should'nt be bigger then 2MB. Try to keep it allways under 1MB or the Channel take longer to load.

3. Make it Mono!

Just drag and drop your file to the Windows.
Select on the Track Split Stereo Track.

Now your track will split in two seperated parts, but that doesnt mean they are now in Mono, you have to set that by hand.
Click on the name of each(left and right) Track and select Mono:

After that you select "Export As Wav", you will get an warning that your exported file will saved as mono(thats what we want), klick OK.
As Name make Sound.bin.

4. Sign the Sound.bin

Start md5sig.exe, select the sound.bin and klick on "Firmar".
After that you can repack the Sound.bin with the 00.app.

I'm uh, just wondering, but is there any way to change the controls for N64 games? Because I know that not all N64 games use the same control scheme on the VC, so naturally there's some way to change that, right?

That means you're trying to compress the sound.bin with LZ77 - which won't work. Make sure anything mentioning LZ77 is unchecked before packing the 00.app or you'll brick your Wii.

As a general note, be absolutely positive you have BootMii or Preloader installed before proceeding with installing any WADs you create.

well , in fact , there's nothing related to lz77 when you want to pack 00.app
it only appears when replacing tpl in banner or icon.bin

i was not able to pack 00.app with the sound.bin that came with the wad i have edited , so i've tried to pack with another sound.bin : successfull !!!!

Dunno why it didn't work with the first sound.bin , but now it's ok.

Now i meet a new problem :

everything is running fine , except that my images appear with lines (i mean like when you watch an interlaced video , images appear striated).
i've kept the exact same dimensions for images , and saved my .bmp in 16bits mode , and i've also put my wad in fuzzyfixer before installing on my wii.

Anyone got an idea ?
did i miss something ?

If you're using gally's tools, try using HowardC's U8Tools. They're newer and usually work better.

I second this, but last I heard, the most current U8Tool of HC's corrupted the icon.bin (not dangerously), so make sure you track down his U8Tool V8 as that one works perfectly.
