Hacking GBA ExpLoader saves

Is there a guide to GBA Exploader and getting saves to work?

I have a M3 DS Real + GBA Expansion cart.
The cart is set to load the default M3 firmware, then I load GBA ExpLoader from the NDS menu, then load the GBA rom.
GBA roms load fine but when I restart the NDS the save games aren't there.

If you're on EZ flash 3in1, is because the battery is dead and you need to replace it.
