I think that this is the only place that I've discussed my save-game editor. Where should I post about it so that more interested people would see it?

I would suggest gamefaqs:

http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gentopic.php?board=934497

It looks like a pretty active board

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm wondering, though, are they going to be receptive to cheating like I'm providing? I mean, I don't want to advertise in a hostile environment.

Also, my cheat tool is mainly useful for flash card owners. It could be used by Action Replay guys, I suppose. Anyway, I want to be sensitive to that issue, too.

as soon as i enter my savegame filename the whole thing disappears and duznt cum bak.

Try running it from a command-prompt. It might give you some sort of error before it dies.

Go to START->RUN and then type
cmd
in the box and hit enter. Welcome to DOS.

Otherwise, that sort of problem usually means that it couldn't read the .SAV file for some reason. I know, I know, it's not a nice Windows app.

Gamefaqs has a section for each game for both cheats and game saves so it shouldn't be an issue. I'm not into Yu-gi-oh so I really don't follow that board but I know the pokemon boards have discuess save game utilities before. Just don't talk about roms as that is a no-no for sure.

Well, from a QUICK initial inspection, WC2007 seems to have a very similar save-game format to Spirit Caller.

Well, I have proven that some of the same techniques from SCaller work on WC2007. I did a hack by hand, and was able to get one of the old cheats to work. Though, I have not had a chance to work on a new editor, yet. Anyway, it's doable. I just tried one cheat to see if it worked the same way as SCaller.

Since this new game is more online enabled and it has trading and stuff built in, do you think it's "worse" to cheat? I mean, are there more implications than in SCaller? Like, if they run online tournaments and stuff like that, would cheating hurt the overall game experience for everyone involved?

Well... yes
wink2.gif

But.. well it's up to you to decide what you want to do, since action replay also does partially ruin the game.
But on the other hand, having a card editor will also enable people to have fun with deck building right away, without actually spending hours to get money to buy decks. But that ruins the purpose of the whole game as well.

There are its ups and downs I guess.. as long as you don't overdo it with the 'editing' options.

Yeah, I'll try to be careful. I tried to be careful in my Spirit Caller one, also. Though, I do see that the saves dernettemann1983 mentioned already let users get 99,999,999DP and 4 of each card.

Really, the main thing I care about is the recpie importer/exporter. Though, I suspect that most people want the "free" cards.

I checked that save and there are two things that makes it semi harmless. I checked the total cards and it only listed a total of 6xxx cards. I already have over 9000 different cards in my game, so it can't be all cards.
And 2ndly, it has its username 'YUGIOH' which is unchangeable by normal means (ingame options etc).

The money is there though, but since you don't get to buy all decks from start. You will still have to battle the computer chars to unlock the new decks, making the amount of money semiuseless till later.

Hmm, well, from what I found, there are 1662 different cards in this new game. If that save-game has 4 of each, then he should own 6,648 cards. How did you get 9000? Did you do my cheat on Spirit Caller and then update WC2007 with those, somehow?

Yeah, the name deal is interesting. I had even considered making my editor change your name to something like KillermechCHT. How does that strike you?

Yeah, and the money is the easiest cheat to do, too. It's kinda like the pack glitch in Spirit Caller. Even if it's widespread, it's not a huge problem. Though, if people can do the pack glitch in SC and then trade those cards to WC2007, is that any worse than my cheats? I haven't tried this, but I hear that it's possible. Anyone done it?

My bad, it's the amount of cards you have, not how many 'original' ones

I haven't played SC, so I haven't tried out your editor im afraid.. although it looks great

Adding a CHT at the end of the name sounds like an excellent idea!

It is possible to use a deck recipe from SC to WC2007, however.. it costs money to transfer (from what i've heard). But the better thing is that this option only gets unlocked after you beat the lvl 3 computer chars (which takes a while/good deck/cards to beat).
