Here's reasons why R4 isn't the best.
-SCDS1 and Cyclo both have realtime save, which lets you save anywhere you want. (Useful for some games)
-SCDS1 has a Realtime guide, where you can read guide for a game you're playing. Kinda useful for a game where you're stuck, and can't get any farther.
-SCDS1 and Cyclo both have Homebrew soft-reset, where it lets you reset from a homebrew, without turning it off then back on.
-Cyclo and SCDS1 both have slow-mo, which can slow down the gameplay, and you can see everything better, in case something is too fast. This one really isn't useful though.
-The Cyclo team tells its users on the forums about what they're adding next to their firmware, and will answer you both directly on the forums, and email wise.
- SCDS1 and Cyclo both have an in-game menu, where you can activate cheats in the middle of the game, or set the brightness (Kinda useless) higher or lower.
- SCDS1 and Cyclo have SDHC support, for people who want more than 2 gigs worth of games, music, etc.
R4 has none of that. Worst of all, they're over 50 bucks, while you can get a DSTT, SCDS1, EDGE, Acekard 2, or all under that 40 bucks. In fact, the flashkarts I've mentioned are all cheaper, and much better than an R4.
R4 used to be the best, but it's time over. There are better carts, but consumers who buy things without proper research thinks this is still the best. It's really not.
Lastly, I'm not telling any R4 owners to change their carts because it sucks, and is gonna die, etc. I'm just tell the facts. There's no reason for someone to change it, when they're already satisfied with a R4.

r4. got it wen it first came out. was revolutionary in its time, does everything i want it to (who the hell needs 4gb for roms anywayz...., and rts?). i have a 2gb sandisk, it holds 13 roms, 70 songs, and like 6 anime eps at a time. what more can you ask for?
easy to customize interface, and who says they have bad support? when a game doesn't work, they fix it fairly quickly. wat more do you need?
It WAS revolutionary. NOT ANYMORE. It does everything YOU want to, but it doesn't satisfy everyone. I need 4 gigs of roms, because I have more than that. There's hell lotta good games coming out, and I can't keep track of all of them, so I just put it on one cart. Besides, I also have huge amounts of Homebrew, music, and movies.
RTS isn't something everyone needs, I agree, because I don't use it myself. But it's extremely useful. For example,
Let's say you're watching a cutscene off some game, but then you have to go somewhere. You've been watching this cutscene for a long time, because you can't skip them. You can't save in that state, and the battery is running dry, so if you put it on sleep mode, it'll still die. Use RTS, and turn it off. When you come back, bam. You start where you left off.
