So pulled my wii u out of storage decided to try and boot it up and nothing happened

managed to get it into recovery menu via my nintendo switch but there is still no display managed to dump the logs and i was gonna try and do a cold boot as people suggested it was harmless to do that at least from what i've seen when researching it

cause there was no menu i was doing this blind and i accidentally selected USA at least thats what i think i did so i restarted the console and selected EUR and once again at least thats what i think i did

after that i did another logs dump and this time "meta.bin" is missing which is a bit slight worrying as from my understanding that is related to emmc but i've attached the both of them hoping i didn't do any harm but feel like i did

If anyone can take a long at these would be appreciated greatly thank you

the logs before the coldboot attempt are called "logs"

after the coldboot is "logs2"

I did some more digging and such and i think the last log is 74 at least thats what i can figure out

Gonna try and install ISFShax unless someone else has a suggestion as i can't seem to figure anything else out myself at the moment, i've had someone look at the logs already and they said they can't find anything to stop the Wii U from booting and i should try install ISFShax

Any damage to the HDMI port?

Yeah there isn't any damage to the HDMI Port at all, like AV and HDMI doesn't work at all even if the HDMI Port was damaged the Gamepad would still be able to connect to the Wii U on Startup but it doesn't show anything

Like gamepad will turn on when the wii u turns on so the gamepad received the signal but the console isn't doing anything

If you tried more than one hdmi cable and tv and monitor and it doesn't show anything even though it turn on it might be the port.

Tried two different TV / Monitors and different cables same thing, i don't think the hdmi port as well would affect the gamepad's ability to connect to the console since the wii u would still work even if the hdmi port wasn't working

Installing ISFShax would make sense, also as a protection if things get worse.
With ISFShax installed you might just want to try setting up redNAND to see if that works better

Gonna write this here incase anyone has the same issue as me

Managed to get ISFShax with help from lazr/ivy in the homebrew discord
Even after installing it my wii u wouldn't display anything when booting into IOS this is with patching the sd

and my logs wouldn't even show anything like nothing was getting created

i suggested to do a mlc dump so i can at least get my saves and such
then lazr/ivy said i could try and use that to rebuild the mlc

after doing the dump, on my computer wfs-extract wouldn't recognise the dump and i would constantly get "Unexpected WFS version (bad key?)" even with two different sd card readers as i know the sd card is good as i've used it for switch emu in the past

after spending a hours of troubleshooting and trying anything i came up with the idea of manually copying the parition and turning it into a .img via hex editing all i would need to find is the first boot sector physical of the mlc dump and the end one

which is what i did with MiniTool Parition Wizard then opened up HxD and i copied from the first boot sector and end and made a new file with all the stuff in it renamed it from "File" to "mlc.full.img" then used wfs-extract "wfs-extract --input mlc.full.img --output dump_dir --type mlc --otp otp.bin"

and we got the mlc open

don't take advice from me but i think those "task.db" files are just spotpass data

They were probably written last and still in the scfm. Also they are as already said just spot pass cache so not important.
But that would also mean the eMMC is probably fine.

appreciate the feedback from both of yous, yeah not that worried about the spotpass data, just wondering now how i can restore my wii u functionity with the mlc properly dumpeed like i'm a bit unsure even restoring the mlc will show anything as the console always has a black screen when booting

only has a screen in minute menu not even recovery menu but there is nothing in the logs to indicate that the emmc is corrupted and the nand dump itself looks fine, my emmc is Tobisha

If you give the Wii U for a minute, then press the power button on the console for a second, does it turn off a few seconds later? Or do you have to force it off by long pressing power?

Booting via Patch (sd) and boot IOS (slc) in ISFShax it will freeze here

after a minute it won't turn off with just pressing the power button for one sec, you have to hold the power button down for a few seconds to turn it off

which i belive is related to OS Crashing but there is nothing in the logs to say its related to the emmc so its rather puzzling

Check the slc dump with nandBinCheck (wrong HMAC on scfm.img is fine) https://github.com/koolkdev/wiiuqt/releases
If there are no other error s on the SLC, you might just try to rebuild the MLC. There is no indication that this is the problem, but I don't have a better idea atm than just reinstalling everything

Hi,

I have the exact same issue with a recently purchased WiiU.
- Blue light, black screen, no image in recovery menu.
- Managed to blindly access minute and it is showing the menu.
- made a backup: otp.bin, seeprom.bin, seeprom_decrypted.bin, BOOT1_SLC.RAW, BOOT1_SLCCMPT.RAW, SLCCMPT.RAW, SLC.RAW
- don't care about the data, so no MLC backup;

SLC.bin checked

After that I installed ISFShax, so I can boot without Pico. Everything perfect till here.

I followed the guide to rebuild MLC and the process went well, blinking blue light until solid blue light.

Removed wafel_setup_mlc.ipx from the SD card and pressed "Patch (sd) and boot IOS (slc)".

The console does something, I think it tries to boot, I hear two DVD drive checkups, the screen goes black, but the led is still purple, not blue.

I also tried the redNand guide, everything went smooth, but when trying to boot, the same result, I hear two DVD drive checkups, the screen goes black, but the led is still purple, not blue.

I also tried ios_orig.img boot with the same result.

Can somebody help me to diagnose step by step this process? I'm stuck and I don't know what to do anymore.

Thank you!
