Mp3 -->wav(have a look if RIFF header exist)-->md5sig.exe -->sound.bin

I couldnt decompres "original" sound.bin

8upack works with uncompresed sound.bin (at less for me...). With compresed sound.bin sound fail or not allow to repack.

I did exactly the same thing.

So 8upack only works with uncompressed sound.bin, right? And you can't decompress your sound.bin? So, how can you make a working uncompressed "sound.bin"?

You didnt read the links i gave in my post.

8upack v0.08 advice you in case you add a compressed sound.bin

And "how can you make a working uncompressed sound.bin?" read the link... "wav to sound.bin" ... its very simple...

Record your own sound.wav --> md5sig.exe -->rename to sound.bin that's all

Hrmmm, using sr_corsario's links, I ended up with a WAD that's 4 MB bigger than the original. That can't possibly be right. Oddly enough, when I open 00.app and replace the sound.bin and click on Archivo U8 con Banner Info con MD5, the Hash MD5 is blank until I save it with Crear Archivo. Suggestions?

Oh, I'm trying to use my own audio too, not Fission's.

You have to make sample rate at least 22.500 @ max. 10 seconds - don't use 8bit, keep 16 bit
You can go lower but it will start to degrade the quality

Also you have to repack the banner.bin and icon.bin with the u8packer

Create Archive (load banner.bin)
Tick the second option ( don't check the L377 if using v8)
Save Archive

Repeat for icon.bin

Then
Create Archive (load 00000000.app)
Add the three *.bin files
Tick the forth option
Name channel (should show md5)
Save Archive

Just pack the files after.

Alright, I packed it again using Fission's new instructions. The out.wad is larger than the in.wad, is that alright? I was under the impression that the out.wad had to be the same size as the in.wad for these channels to install properly. Is that not the case?

Yes the wad is bigger because of the larger sound.bin

Doesn't matter about the size as it won't affect installation. It just affects how much Wii memory it uses.

Sounds good. I'll post back when I get it tested!

EDIT: It worked! I now have a fully custom version of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest! Custom banner, brlyt (didn't use yours), icon, save icon and sound! Thanks again for the tutorial (to everyone that's worked on it)!

EDIT2: A dreadful quality YouTube video of the channel in action - thanks to deba94!

My sound.bin is only 320,076 bytes (22.050hz, 16bit, Stereo, 5.1secs)

Original THG.wad 22,559,296 bytes
New THG.wad (Banner, Sound, Save Icon, Manual v1.a) 23,309,312 bytes

So not much difference.

Excellent stuff bobitos

I added a youtube video of my WAD a few posts up!

Fission, are you going to release a better version of the sound.bin? I know only 1/2 dB isn't that much of a difference, but if you're the first one to get out a complete and proper sound file, it'd become the standard for VC customs!

I used your sound.bin file and put it into my wad file i made, i now have a FULLY working file for NTSC-U Super Punch-Out!! works awesome and it only added 1 single wii block to the installed file

you can hear a SMALL sound quality difference though, like you said maybe 1/2 DB lighter, anyway to repack this even it takes another block (i dont have a way to record from my tv either

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
