Xboxes are cheap (I modded 2 on the weekend) but you have to hunt down the remotes and component cables. I ended up spending ~$80/per. You could probably find better deal if you looked hard enough.

Checked around today...

Xbox 1: $260-375
ohmy.gif

Xbox360: $240 and up depending on SKU.

There is no shop anywhere selling Xbox1 for $80 or even close where I live.

PN04 this is off topic but Lovely picture of Vanessa you have as your avatar

. Have you beaten PN.03? ive played through that game so many times I cant even count. it still stands as one of my favorite GameCube games to this date.

Maybe it would be better suited for the community to just update M-Player with some XBMC features. we already have a good media player going. Why nix it just to start from scratch and TRY to make another player. no need to be like THQ and the SmackDown series and reinvent the wheel. Just make the wheel better. Why dont we go down the list of what M-Player already has and then list down that features that XBMC has that could be implimented in M-Player. At least its a start...

These were used Xboxes in Canada: $40 - Xbox, $15 - remote + dongle, $20 - HD component cables - also got a extended warranty for an extra $4. This was a EB Games. They also had used 360 Arcades for $123 (normally $200CDN) - but I don't trust used 360s.

No, have not beaten PNo3, actually I don't even like the gametype that much, I just like Vanessa coz she's hot

I don't trust any used consoles (they have a tendency to break for me), but sure, if I buy secondhand/used maybe I'll get it that cheap too.

XBMC Piimped is usally about 150meg, and then 30-40meg for each skin you have installed so it does get pretty big
my xbox1, is heavily modded, X3 modchip with bios bank switch on the front and internal wifi mod using wifi bridge and other shit, i've had XBMC for years.

anyway back on topic. -
XBMC on the Wii even as a port of the linux version would blow mplayer_ce out the water, the smoothness of the UI and the inbuilt features like synopsis and cover art.

Mplayer is shite compared to it, but still its had years of dev but mplayer_ce is still a baby

i agree though that maybe the best steps would be improving the Mplayer UI maybe adding a libgui interface now and such.
i think small rational steps are needed here, instead of "I WANTZ THIS THIS ANS THIS NOW PLEASE K THX BYE"

Wasn't there a recent 1080i demo written for the Wii?

I can't think of any reason it cannot do 1080i, technically, the Wii is a bit more powerful than the original Xbox, both from a CPU- and GPU-perspective. Everything else is available on the Wii, and it's got USB 2.0 support.

Um...no there wasn't. Simply put, the reason the Wii can not do 1080i is because it is a hardware limitation.

actually, there was. it was, however, using a computer to demonstrate that the wii games can go to 1080i 720p. Heres the link to a story I found on it. anyway, offtopic.

Back on topic. we basically have xbmc, the only thing that needs to be done is Mplayer needs to have sex with Usbloader and they will birth a NWMC nintendo wii media center

THAT My friend is what needs to happen. xbmc had python scripts too which would be great but hey.

however on the wii, what features would be needed is a main splash screen that it can load wiiware / vc / usb games / movies / music

GAHHHH!!!! ENOUGH WITH THE ALL IN ONE BLAH BLAH BLAH!!! A media player needs to do only ONE thing... play MEDIA! Media as in Movies and Music THATS ALL!!! If you people so despirately want a new System Menu then maybe you shouldnt have purchased a WII in the first place!!! Gee I thought the reason behind buying a console is because you agreed with the first party's philosophy on gaming, not wanted to change it

ehhh it not that people ask to have an all in one thing , that was XBMC is , all usb loader are a little copie of xbmc in certain way, so it only make sense that we ask that , on top of that it could include what you start as a topic instant messenger ,

what we need like thc420 said is that usb loader + Mplayer + GeeXboX have an partouse for the time of a bottle of Viagra and it should do it

ugh, do you realise, XBMC *uses* MPlayer for video, so theirs no real difference, if the port of XBMC ever happens, which is very dim at this time, you will see media only, it's not going to have stupid crap like the option of integrating a hbc/usb/sd loaders/all that crap in it, i mean seriously.

And on the other hand, gui is coming ... but who cares about all these XBMC features? it's a damn wii, we don't expect to be able to throw all our shit at it, and expect it to cope. corrr.
Your'e more likely to see a new port of VLC which still will be exactly the same as MPlayer. Period.

It's an EMULATOR, not the Wii hardware. And technically it's not TRUE 720p because the ORIGINAL resolution is still 480 lines, stretched/interpolated to your monitor resolution.
You have to understand that games does not do anything else that rendering a screen in main memory and ask the Video hardware to display it.
Wii Video hardware limitation is 480P, period, there is NO WAY you can make it output higher resolution video signals without hardware mods (if this is even possible)

The rendered screen resolution can be any size you want regarding main memory limitation though, but games have absolutely no interess in rendering more lines than hardware can handle so they don't do hat. So no, games DON'T GO higher than 480 lines.

The thing is, the Wii homebrew scene has so much evolved during this year, (with a lot of useful pirate application for example) that many people think that anything not done yet will be possible in the future thanks to "hackers"/"homebrewsers" gods

sadly, that's just not true, some stuff are easy to do, some other more difficult and require more work than simple code copypasting and nice packaging (which 80% of released stuff are).. and some stuff are just impossible, no matter how hard you want it to happen.

Mplayer CE is a mile off XMBC - Ignore all that crap about game loading etc, the reason we want XBMC is:

Top quality samba shares which are browsable and play well. (no need to edit .config files)

A really good GUI - that allows easy navigation to music, dvds, smb shares, etc. Imagine it with a wiimote.

Masses of options - customisable gui, great cover system for all media, including background images etc, all auto downloadable.

Top quality playback. Mplayer CE really fails on this front, many of my videos, usb, dvd or smb freeze up, go out of sync or crash the whole system.

Final word on this, then im done. All I said was that somebody used a computer to display wii graphics at 720p. thats all i said. i no its not true 720p. lets just leave it at that.

On the xbmc side of things, im cponfused. how could somebody mix together usbloader/xbmc/sd card menu(changed to usb perhaps)/hbc/etc.?

omg, do you realise the MAXIMUM speed we can get over the pathetic wifi on wii at this time is 630kbp/s ??? we already have extremely strong smb, it's not mplayers fault people have a pathetic connection or are trying to play incompatible files which XBMC couldn't play on the wii *neither*

XBMC still uses mplayer, so there's going to be hardly no difference.

Picture quality is MUCH better using XBMC (Xbox) over composite (480i) then MplayerCE (Wii) over component (480p) for me.

So, I'd say MplayerCE need some more evolving before it is up to par with XBMC's Mplayer (picture quality wise).

Uranuskiller: If I've understood correctly, it's nintendo's wifi drivers that are pathetic, so bootmii/MINI could probably help on this? I wonder how much of work it is to port a program to bootmii platform when it has all the drivers and otherwise finalized..

And please make the GUI pretty.. I'm sucker for pretty GUI's..
