Just for clarification, suid(0) is the same as ES_Indentify()

Maybe the ability to create title 1-0 using homebrew has been specifically blocked? Some homebrew apps create this title when identifying with the SU ticket.

No 1-0 title means no suid(0)...?

Thanks, but I think you were the one we noticed IOS3 on before.

We really need to see ONE Wii that has been fully hacked that has IOS3 installed. If we find that we can look elsewhere. Otherwise IOS3 may still be an indicator.

Oh, and unfortunately the 4.0 update has overwritten your IOS16 that had the fakesigning bug, so you will no longer be able to use the custom WAD manager to install fakesigned titles.

Your cIOS could tell us if any cIOS is being blocked, or if only certain attributes of the cIOS (i.e. patched to allow priveleged NAND/FS access) is being blocked. Definitely worth a try!

Another approach may be to develop a very simple "Hello World" app that runs on the existing IOS249. That would tell us if only certain behavior of the cIOS is causing issues, or if anything using cIOS is blocked.

I do have IOS16 V257 already installed, even with 4.0 from what Title Lister reports.

It looks like the update did not overwrite your IOS16 (a pretty big oversight I would say).

Anyway I would say YES you should try installing it with Custom WAD Manager (16). You should try installing it to an IOS slot other than 249. You would then need to try a backup launcher that allows you to select which IOS slot to use (I believe SoftChip will do that).

Nevermind these "instructions". Obviously I didn't see what the archive contained.

Run the cIOS installer in the "uii" folder then try the SoftChip r87.

I too have gotten lucky enough to purchase one of these wii's out in the wild my SN starts with LU646... all i've done so far is used the twilight hack to install the HBC... i'm afraid to go much further but if someone wants to test some new methods i would be willing to help!

Perfect. I wouldn't install anything else. Try to run title_lister_37_512 (you may have to search GBATemp for a link, but it's around). If it runs, see if it lists title 1-3 (IOS3).

I wouldn't install cIOS at this time. Keep an eye on this thread.

Questions:

Woudn't the "uii" cIOS installer require an IOS that has the fakesigning bug? I don't see anywhere in the source that calls IOS_ReloadIOS to reload IOS16, so wouldn't it be running on the Homebrew Channel's IOS (IOS36). And if so, in this case the fakesigning bug has been fixed in the existing IOS36 so the cIOS installation would fail, wouldn't it?

What's so difficult about just starting the application once? I told that 1 requirement is the correct IOS16, and if you look at "IOS_Selection" in the code, you see that there's a "menu" from which you can load IOS16,36,37 and 249.

I see that in the code now. Thanks for pointing it out.

BTW - I don't have an "unsoftmoddable" Wii, so there's no reason for me to run the app. If you want to help those who do have one you may need to give them more explicit instructions, since I'm not sure the people reading this thread have a "basic understanding of softmodding". I don't know if they would realize that they have to select IOS16 in your app in order to install the cIOS.
