Hacking Banner Editing Tutorial

I did Delete it completly, just pushed delete, should i null it instead? Also i have two diff versions of gbalzss, and none worked, is there any specific version i should be looking for or somthing? or maybe you could point me in the right direction. Also, was kinda wierd, i tried all diff VC games and none worked excpet paradox's banner'd injected super smash bros. that opens up and can edit everything no problems, kinda wierd.

ok so your gbalzss works wonderfully, but now the u8 tool wont open it says "Error al extrear el fichero, es probably que el archivo no sea U8."

EDIT: i got it working! found i wasnt leaving the extra 00 between the imd5 header and the U8 in the hex, left the extra . or 00 and it works. thanks

One more thing, when i repack them back into the banner.bin, do pack them back into the original banner.bin or the hex edited banner.bin?

the hacked one and after you put the files back in the arc you open gbalzss again and you use the command gbalzss e banner.arc banner.bin

nou you wil have a new banner.bin

Yes thanks Sperion, i got all that working with all your help, however im having some problems with the packer, it creates the wad with the banner and hex edited console name and everything, but the wad will not install wad manager gives me error! (ret = -4100) i've tried several things

BTW: I'm considering a video tutorial... If I made one, would it be any help to anyone? It would be mute, no speaking. Just me doing the steps listed at a moderate speed

Unpack wad.
u8extr.exe > 00000000.app
copy banner.bin to root folder
hexedit banner.bin > remove shit after IMD5 until Uª8 (except for the first trailing 00) > save
gbalzss d banner.bin banner.arc
u8extr.exe > the hexedit banner.bin
tplconv.exe > select image (256x192 pixels) > save as > banner_arc_out\timg\VCPic.tpl
u8pack.exe > banner.arc > to replace VCPic.tpl > save as banner.arc
delete hexedited banner.bin
gbalzss e banner.arc banner.bin
u8pack.exe >00000000.app > to replace banner.bin with new gbalzss banner.bin > save as 00000000.app
copy al in extracted wad folder
and repack

Am i forgetting anything ?

EDIT : icons works the same only question what are the sizes ?

You need to u8extr the banner.arc not the banner.bin

though i don't see how that would render a blank channel :/

As for the icon size, it is the same as the one for the homebrew banner (iconimage.tpl not Logochan.tpl) I'll edit this post with exact dimensions in moments.

Whenever I run that decamp whatever, the unpacker, I get an error saying the drive or network connection that the shortcut Desempaquetador.lnk refers to is unavailable. Make sure the disk is properly inserted, blah blah blah. How can I edit this .lnk file? I can't even get past step one, dammit!

Went through step by step, and did exact same steps prior to updated tut (which is awesome by the way, thank you for it) and i still get same Ret = -4100 error, what am i doing wrong? it wont pack it back up correctly
